Having recently purchased a home in the area, we contacted Joyce Means to help decorate our master bedroom, great room, formal and informal dining rooms, guest bath and sunroom. Her challenge was that my wife and I have little design sense, but wanted to make our new home’s interior a lot more elegant, yet Carolina-coastal. We were also a challenge in that we had no consensus as to what we wanted, but she took the time to understand our perspectives and needs. Despite these roadblocks, Ms. Means listened to our concerns and delivered exactly what we wanted: Not a compromise, but a complimentary balance of our tastes – no easy task, I might add. Joyce was beyond patient with us and came up with imaginative ideas for our home. This included drapery, wall art, area rugs and furniture. Ms. Means also incorporated some of our treasured artifacts in strategic locations to compliment the design. She really nailed it with the materials and balance of light and texture. As an added bonus, her team fixed a problem with our automated shades that had been plaguing us for several months. In summary, working with Joyce (and team) was such a delightful experience. From our initial inquiry to the final reveal, she made the entire design process so effortless. Ms. Means was so easy to work with; very responsive, communicative and an excellent listener. After Joyce completed the redesign of our bedroom we immediately knew that we wanted to get the rest of the main floor redecorated as well! Her designs are so well thought out and tailored to our style. The finished product is even better than we could have imagined! Our entire house now feels warm, inviting, up to date, and flows beautifully from room to room! Joyce’s attention to detail completes the vision! We could not be happier! Building our dream retirement home was exciting. I wanted our home to be everything we had envisioned. Deciding to use an interior designer was easy, finding one that we were comfortable with was not as easy as I had imagined. Joyce, you are awesome! I am in awe of your design and coordination skills. Recently, when I asked you for some ideas on wall art for my bedroom, you provided me with choices that I absolutely loved. Being that we are several states away, you patiently walked me through via phone how to arrange them. Unfortunately, one picture began to crack at the seams and when I contacted you, there were no questions asked. You simply asked me to text you a picture of it and in no time, a replacement was on my front porch. Thank you for such great customer service. During this time of Thanksgiving, I just wanted to take a moment to tell you how thankful I am for Joyce Means and Decorating Den. When we moved to the Charleston, SC area, we did not know a soul. The transition was extremely stressful as we were moving from two different States to this State. I was overwhelmed and didn’t know where to begin. All my usual connections were gone—enters Joyce Means. Right away we clicked. She knew exactly what I liked and appreciated. She offered ideas that were stunning. She helped me “eat the elephant” one step at a time. She helped me transform my pile of boxes into a stunning, comfortable home. Everyone who comes in remarks on how beautiful our home is.

This story even gets better. We added on a beautiful porch that overlooks the pond with fountains. I needed to furnish the whole room and really wanted the Wow factor. Joyce found the perfect furniture and we delighted in selecting fabric that was outstanding. But, as fate would have it, the furniture began to peel and flake. Joyce and David Haseley, Senior VP of Merchandising were on it immediately. They pursued the manufacturer until they had a satisfactory answer. I thought I was going to be “stuck” with peeling furniture but Joyce made sure that it was going to be perfect just like everything else that she provided. The manufacturer admitted they had an ongoing problem with that particular stain on the furniture. It is all in the process of being replaced!

Needless to say, I think Joyce is a miracle worker on so many different levels! She has provided timeless ideas and stayed within budget. In the process Joyce is a wonderful support system and has gone out of her way to welcome us into the Community. Thank you to your wonderful company and your outstanding Associate, Joyce Means.
